Darkness

It was a cold dark place
One she wished no one ever went

Shadows crept all around
Waiting to hunt her

With smoldering red eyes
They bid their time in anticipation

She ran as fast as her legs allowed
Yet the gap only grew smaller

The shadows cast their long hands
Wispy tendrils curled around her feet

She tried to move on
Not be affected by the tugging at her feet

Alas they were strong
They caught up with her pace

Gradually engulfing her entire being
Feeding off her very soul.
